Canberra is the capital city of Australia. With a population of 345 thousand inhabitants, it is the largest city of the Australian outback and the eighth largest in the country.

Canberra attracts many national and international tourists.

In here we can find the Parliament, the Australian High Court, as well as the National Library of Australia.

The Australian War Memorial is Australia's national memorial to the members of all its armed forces that have died or participated in the wars. The memorial includes a National Military Museum.

 

The National Library of Australia is also located in Canberra.

 The Library has restricted access. Its vast collection consists of books, newspapers, photographs, maps, manuscripts, audio recordings, microfilms and other media.

 

Fun Facts

Canberra means "meeting place" or "known place" in the Aboriginal dialect.

 

The architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin were chosen to create the design of the city.

The Black Mountain Tower, very important for telecommunications, is also a tourist attraction, being one of the city's main symbols.

 

A flower festival, which takes place annually in September, is another of its great attractions.
